Ho’oponopono Meditation

About  Ho’oponopono

Hello, beautiful souls.

It’s an honor to share my journey with Ho’oponopono. I should say “current understanding” because, after years of studying this ancient Hawaiian practice, I still discover more of its magic and mystery.

I can’t pinpoint exactly when I first encountered Ho’oponopono, but it re-emerged during a significant recalibration in my life. Growing up in a mixed-race family—my father is Caucasian with part-Cherokee heritage, and my mother is Samoan—I was aware of many cultural practices. Yet, as I navigated conflicts, both internal and with loved ones, I remembered Ho’oponopono’s power for restoring harmony.

I have the privilege of studying under a respected Kahuna lapa’au—a native Hawaiian healer with deep roots in both traditional Hawaiian medicine and the Western medical field. This experience, combined with my studies in traditional therapies like CBT, and science based modalities such as neuro-linguistic programming,  quantum healing, helped me explore the neuroscience behind reprogramming mindsets, behavior change and healing trauma.

Of all these approaches, Ho’oponopono has given me the most profound transformations. Its simple yet profound nature continues to support my forgiveness journey, helping me find balance whenever I feel an emotional or energetic charge.

And the best thing is—I don’t even have to know why I’m triggered by a known or unknown memory. When I feel an energetic charge in response to someone or a situation, I recognize it as a reaction to a memory of some kind and immediately say the Ho’oponopono prayer. I feel soothed almost instantly and soon experience a “zero state,” which I’ll explain below.

I am excited to hear about your experiences with Ho’oponopono. You’ll be joining millions worldwide who have discovered this life-changing, simple, repeatable, and transformational practice.

The Essence of Ho’oponopono

Ho’oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian healing practice for releasing fear, anger, and resentment, helping us return to balance through forgiveness. Oral history links Ho’oponopono to the late 1800’s and was carried forward in its current contemporary form, that has grown into a global community of practitioners.

The practice became widely known in the late 1970’s through Dr. Mornah Simeona and her student, Dr. Hew Len Haleakala. Dr. Len’s work with criminally insane patients in a Honolulu psychiatric ward gained recognition as he transformed a chaotic, unmanageable environment without even directly engaging with the patients. Instead, he practiced Ho’oponopono on the emotions that arose in him as he read their case files, taking full responsibility for the energy between him and each patient. Through this “cleaning” or clearing of emotional data, both he and the patients were released from their energetic entanglement, and over time, the entire ward experienced a profound shift toward peace and healing.

Meaning of Ho’oponopono

In Hawaiian, “Ho’o” means “to,” and “Pono” means “make right”—together, “to make right.” Traditionally, Hawaiian families practiced Ho’oponopono to resolve conflicts and restore family harmony.

What Does Forgiveness Have to Do with Manafesting?

Most people are familiar with manifestation through visualization and aligning thoughts to attract what we desire. However, the connection between forgiveness and manifesting is less understood yet incredibly powerful. This process, which I call “Manafesting,” activates our “mana” (our source energy or unique gifts) to manifest from a place of clarity and strength.

Each of us has a unique energetic signature, acting as a magnetic force field that attracts experiences based on the quality of our thoughts and beliefs. When emotions like fear, anger, or resentment arise, they act as “kinks” in our manifestation energy, blocking the flow. Ho’oponopono clears these blocks, opening our “mana portal”—our channel to the universal energy field.

The Ho’oponopono Prayer: Four Simple Lines with Profound Roots

  1. ‘“I’m sorry” – Acknowledge: “I was unaware that I carried this memory of you and this situation within me, causing suffering.”
  2. “Please forgive me” – Request forgiveness: “Divinity within, assist me to forgive myself for being led astray by my judgments.”
  3. “Thank you” – Express gratitude: “Thank you for allowing these memories to appear so that I may release them.”
  4. “I love you” – Offer love: “I love you, Divine essence, for being here with me and allowing me peace with all.”

You have nothing to do other than to say these simple words. This is the beauty and simplicity of Ho’oponopono. It is no longer necessary to search for the source of a disruptive memory- the painful event surrounding its origin. The process seems difficult to the mind, only because the mind wants to control and understand everything. The mind does play a role though- that of having its own free will. It can ask the ego to let go of all control and power, and place its trust in your inner divinity which frees you of your memories.

How Ho’oponopono Can Change Your Life

Every event and encounter hides memories. Ho’oponopono helps us clear these memories, freeing ourselves from pain and suffering. Practicing Ho’oponopono regularly brings us into a “zero state,” where the mind surrenders control to our divine aspect. In this state, we are receptive to our soul’s messages, or inspired insights, for taking aligned action—or no action at all.

Over time, Ho’oponopono becomes a reflex in life. You become a neutral observer, free from judgment or reaction, simply aware that everything is energy. Some behaviors stem from timelines or energetic contracts we may not even be aware of, requiring neutralization for our well-being and for future generations.

The objective of the practice is to connect you to your inner divinity through your soul. You recognize the Divine within yourself and as such, you are also a powerful creator.  You accept 100% responsibility for everything that you have created in your life experience- whether wanted or unwanted.

You acknowledge that you have the power to create everything that you do want.  The key is to drop all expectations, which is when your mind gets involved and your soul begins to withdraw and nothing can happen.  From this moment on, the mind will try to block the process of change.

The more you practice Ho’oponopono the more you will develop trust in yourself and total faith in your soul to help the mind relinquish its power and need to control everything.

This is when the intellect gives way to the intuition of the heart.

Heart-mind-soul coherence is when you are in complete sync with universal flow and connected to the quantum field of infinite potential.

This is also when your mana portal opens all the way up, allowing you to tap into ‘wisdom from everywhere.’

Practicing these lines daily brings a lightness and a deeper connection to your divine essence. The key is observing all emotions that arise, acknowledging and releasing them with gratitude, humility, and acceptance.

With love and gratitude,
